Lullaby
Oh WOW! I can't even begin to tell all of you how much I really, really, really, REALLY like my Chuck Palahniuk books. Well, I've finished another and it was good! I want everyone this upcoming year to find a Palahniuk book and read it. He's really great. But enough gloating over my favorite author. Let's discuss this book...
This book is about a culling spell. "What's that Ryan Charisma?" you say. Well, it's a spell that was used to help sick children, elderly and wounded soldiers "pass on" to death. Basically it kills you, only quickly. Like ripping off a band aid. The least amount of pain with the most amount of speed. This 'spell' was accidentally put into a children's book of nursery rhymes and lullabies and people unknowingly begin to kill their children. Sick right? I love it. Anyway, someone figures out what is going on and there the story takes off. Like every other book by Mr. Palahniuk this one is in it's own style. As I've said before, it's as though someone different writes each of his books. Well, except that there's always something twisted about the story.
I think that the struggle in this book isn't weather or not to kill others, it's more the struggle of doing the right thing, or doing something self centered. And where exactly is that line drawn? I know, I know...you're all thinking "Ryan Charisma are you being like all pensive and stuff?" Absolutely not my petite hamsters of love, I still do exactly what the Bible says. Like any good sheep.
