Governor Jindal a/k/a douche bag

What the fuck was with this colossal ass-wipe "rebutting" President Obama's speech last night? Is this fuck wad aware that in order to offer a rebuttal to the speech, one would have to listen to it? Say buh-bye to your political career! Just because you're a minority doesn't mean you're the Republican answer to Obama. Obama is intelligent!
douche bag!

SHREK - the musical

Last Saturday Mr. Adam & I went to see the Dreamworks Broadway production of Shrek the Musical (thanks Michael).
So here it is in a nutshell. The show is good for kids under 10. Yup, I can't really say much more. It was adorable to see little boys & girls standing up whenever Shrek walked on stage. They really were mesmerized by the show. But the show itself spent SO much money on talent, costumes (which should win a Tony Award), set and stage - that they forgot to write good songs. Really, the songs are, at times, unbearable. I would say the first 2-3 songs of the show can be shortened or cut. And every ballad that Shrek sings in Act II must be cut. Too much and it's not carrying the story. The ticket for a show like this is around $120 per seat. How in God's name can people spend that kind of money for a children's show? As I said the cast was stunningly talented, but no amount of acting and/or vocal prowess can make this horrible score sing.
If you want a nice night out at a new show - go see Billy Elliot, and tell them ryan charisma sent you!

The Story Of My Life

My friend Michael took me to see The Story Of My Life last night. It was good/mediocre. Let me 'splain...

This show begins with a friend writing the eulogy of his long time friend. I had no idea this was the premise of this musical. Yes, I wrote musical. Still having fresh wounds from my friend Dennis' death and having been the person Dennis asked to write his eulogy; this show struck a raw nerve for me. I was struck down with all of the paralles of this story compared to my own. It wasn't my story, but yet...it was. (sigh)

This two man show was superbly acted. Wonderfully directed and orchestrated. The set was stellar. I always enjoy those "less is more" sets anyway and the fact that everything even props were painted beige only - gave the show a great look. The show however, was only OK. Really. Sure some of the numbers really worked... "some". The show followed the new 90 minute / no intermission format that so many new shows seem to have taken. Usually I love it. But for a 90 minute show, at times I thought we were going on 3 hours. The music is so average really. Some songs just drag.
Should you see this show? ONLY if you've seen so many other Broadway shows. This show is defenitley a 2nd tier show that would never please people in the city to see shows like "Wicked" or "Billy Elliot". This is not one of those. So much awesome work went into this production, sadly the score needs work.
