My Mind is Orange

Your Mind is Orange

Of all the mind types, yours is the quickest.

You are usually thinking a mile a minute, and you could be thinking about anything at all.

Your thoughts are often scattered and random - but they're also a lot of fun!

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about esoteric subjects, the meaning of life, and pop culture.

The Pillars of the Earth

WOW!!! This book was great. I finished it last night and I miss it already. People get ready 'cause Momma is excited and wants to tell you all about this story. First of all, it takes place from 1135-1174. That's right ... Middle Ages my friends. Now I'm not a history buff, that's for sure, but this book is so well written that it pulls you in. I loved the characters, some were born & died all in the span of this one book. Now, this is a piece of literature, not just a book. It's not a light read, nor a short read. No wonder Oprah has it on her book club and was one of her "favorite things" in 2007. Now, it's one of my favorite things too.
The book begins with Tom Builder, a mason looking for work through the English countryside. He (through a series of events) ends up in Kingsbridge (through another series of events) to build their cathedral. I never would have thought I would find building a cathedral so interesting. The story not only is a great tale in and of itself, but it shows the power religon played back in the middle ages and how the true spirit of religon is manipulated into fear to control men and thier leaders. What a great book. I want to tell everyone all about this book, spread the word! It's that good. I want to tell all of you the story, but I would ruin it if I told you more. Do yourself a favor get this book, read this book and most of all....enjoy this book! Momma says so!

Hairspray - BROADWAY

Last Saturday Mr. Adam took me to see Hairspray on Broadway. I had not seen this show. I know you're all thinking "Ryan Charisma, you're so theatrically astute, how did you miss this show?" Well, Momma had just moved to NYC on 09/08/01 (three days before 09/11) and I was jobless. I couldn't afford it, and when the time came that I could afford it, Hairspray had moved from my short list of shows to my long list. Sad.
So let me begin, I really, really enjoyed the show. I know it won 8 Tony Awards in 2003, but luckily the show is still fresh and entertaining. Let me start, the lead Shannon Durig was good. I can't say great because I felt her performance lacked the "starry eyed, optomistic" enthusiams that Tracy Trunblad needs. However, her voice was right on and her dancing was on par. I simply wanted that air of youthful optimism that she lacked. Perhaps she was conserving energy for the evening performance, perhaps not. Edna Turnblad was performed by George Wendt. He was good as well. Not quite a mover, and to see him sweat like a man through his houscoat during his soft shoe number "Timeless to Me" was sort of gross. But for a fat man, he did good. Rumor has it he wore a fat suit as well. Aye yai yai. One of the main performers was Kevin Meaney - great in the 3 supporting roles he performed. He's a funny man. Now Link was played by Ashley Angel Parker, he was ok. I think Link should be a hearthrob. And Mr. Parker wasn't attractive enought to make me throb, er ... my heart that is. Too bad.
I really enjoyed this show. It was light, for a musical based around bigotry, funny & most of the songs are toe tapping. Jery Mitchell's choreography was so great. No wonder he was nominated for a Tony. If you really want to see Mr. Mitchell's work at it's best you should see Legally Blond. His work isn't tough, but it's VERY visual. Should you see this show. Absolutley, and there's no John Travolta changing his character to suit his "I'm not gay" needs.

Get Over It!

I want to say I care, but...

OK, here we go. I'm gonna be unpopular for a moment now. YES, I know the Giants won the Superbowl. Whatever, I don't even follow tennis. So this "super team" who is "super over-paid" wins the 'super big game." Yes, ...and now what? Have the homeless from Katrina been helped? Are there still people in hospitals that can't afford their bills? Is the Iraq War issue solved? No, so let's spend thousands of the tax payers dollars to throw a ticker-tape parade for these over-paid athelets. That's a great idea!
So, after an agonizing Sunday that revolved around a stupid televised game with the LAMEST half-time entertainment ever, I was forced to push my way to work through the crowd for this Giants Victory Parade. Yes, I work right on the parade route. My office building put up barriers to keep the rif raf out.

So I make it into work, on time I may add, and at 11am this extravaganza starts. I've never seen a ticker-tape parade but let me tell you. It's sort of exciting except that this one was all about sports (symbols of gay oppression). Who cares? I'll tell you who. Idiots. Screaming nobodys who actually think they did something to make this victory happen! And they couldn't just be happy that their team won, no - they kept chanting how awful the Patriots are, and that Tom Bradley is a loser. Whatever. Talk about poor sportsmanship. It makes me proud of my straight brothers to see them behave like that. The only thing I hate worse is to watch straight guys & girls try to hook up in bars. That is the worst. But I digress. So this 'fun-ness' ends around 12:15pm and the city looks like nuclear winter has hit. This is where my tax dollars are going? To clean up after stupidity? To celebrate men who make more money in one year than I'll make in 10? No, no, no, no, no. I object.
I took these pictures. I want to say I care, but I don't.
Where is the ticker-tape parade for Madonna?

My Official Support Announcement:

I am officially announcing my endorsement for
Mrs. Hillary Clinton
Obama is OK, but I want an attack dog that will put nasty Republicans in thier place and that actually has some solutions to the issues at hand. Sure I like his nice "change" speeches as much as the next guy, and then we can all hold hands an sing Kumbaya. But nothing will get done. Hillary can land on the ground running.
"Give'em HEALTH Hillary!"
